I have spent 35 years in corporate leadership and business growth coaching. The pattern I see most consistently in founders and MDs is not a lack of knowledge. It is not a lack of commitment either. It is the implementation gap.
You can articulate your values clearly. You have a vision. You have read the books and attended the events. And yet, when the pressure lands — when a difficult decision needs to be made at speed, when the team is underperforming, when your own energy and focus are stretched — the gap between the leader you intend to be and the leader who shows up in that moment becomes visible.
"The implementation gap is not a skills problem. It is an identity problem — the distance between who you know you are as a leader and what you actually do when the stakes are highest."
The critical issue is that most leaders cannot see precisely where that gap lives. They feel it. They notice the results of it in their teams, their culture, and their own frustration. They just cannot pinpoint which of the six pillars are embedded and which are still fragile under pressure.
That is what this assessment is designed to tell you.
The assessment does not tell you what you want to hear. It tells you what you need to know — specifically, and by pillar.
The assessment scores your leadership independently across all six pillars. Each pillar generates its own percentage score and a personalised status statement. You leave knowing precisely which pillars are thriving, which are developing, and which represent your most urgent priority.
Your vision is the North Star of your leadership. This pillar measures whether it guides your decisions automatically — not only when you have the time and space to reflect, but under pressure, when it matters most.
A vision that lives only in your head is a personal ambition, not a leadership framework. This pillar assesses whether your team makes decisions consistent with your values when you are not in the room.
Unreleased negative emotions and limiting beliefs do not disappear — they show up in your leadership decisions, your communication, and the culture you unconsciously model. This pillar measures your emotional leadership capacity.
Authentic leadership is about congruence — the degree to which who you say you are matches who your team experiences you to be, consistently, in every context and condition.
You cannot lead others from a depleted state. This pillar assesses whether sustainable self-care is embedded as a non-negotiable leadership practice or whether it yields first when workload increases.
Purpose-led leaders invest in growth with the same rigour they apply to business investment. This pillar assesses the intentionality, balance, and measurable impact of your personal and professional development.
Each statement is scored on a five-point scale. Score for your current reality — not the leader you are working to become. The most useful results come from honest reflection, not aspirational thinking.
You receive a percentage score for each of the six pillars, expressed in one of four bands: Critical Gap, Developing, Progressing, or Thriving. Each band includes a personalised status statement written for where you are right now.
Your overall score places you in one of four purpose-led leadership profiles. The profile gives you a clear picture of where you are on the journey and what the most productive next step looks like for a leader at your stage.
Because every result is expressed as a percentage, you can retake the assessment after 90 days of focused development and compare scores directly. A move from 55% to 68% is measurable evidence of real change.
Your overall score places you in one of four leadership profiles. Each comes with specific guidance on where to focus your development next.
I created the Purpose-Led Leadership Implementation Assessment because I kept seeing the same pattern. Founders and MDs who intellectually understood what purpose-led leadership looked like — and then made decisions under pressure that had nothing to do with their stated values. Not because they did not care. Because the framework had not yet become automatic.
With 35 years in corporate IT and business leadership, and as a Certified Business Growth Coach accredited by the IAPC&M, I work with SME founders and managing directors who are ready to close that gap with precision and intention rather than hoping it resolves itself over time.
I am a Certified Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy™ and Hypnosis. The six-pillar framework at the core of this assessment draws on all three disciplines — and on the real patterns I have observed working with leaders across professional services, consulting, technology, and B2B businesses.
The assessment is the starting point I wish more of my clients had reached for earlier.
